Rainbow Bridge occupies a unique place in the Jimi Hendrix catalogue. Released in 1971 after Hendrix’s death, the album was issued as the soundtrack to the Rainbow Bridge film but functions more as a studio album than a traditional soundtrack. It contains some of Hendrix’s final recordings and showcases the more mature, exploratory direction he was pursuing in the last years of his career.
