This 1971 EMI Columbia pressing of Marching–En Route by The Military Band of The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) captures the precision, discipline and ceremonial power of one of Britain’s most respected military ensembles. Recorded in Edinburgh in November 1970 and conducted by Bandmaster Samuel P. Holmes, the album delivers a stirring programme of classic marches and regimental favourites, performed with crisp brass articulation and tight percussive control. The Studio 2 Stereo production gives the recording a clean, spacious soundstage typical of early-1970s EMI engineering, making it an excellent example of British military band recordings from the period.

The front cover presents the iconic Black Watch uniforms in full regalia, while the reverse provides detailed liner notes outlining the band’s touring history and technical recording specifications. A solid addition for collectors of military, brass band, or British regimental recordings.
