Isilingo by the Soul Brothers is a classic mid-1980s South African mbaqanga and soul release from one of the country’s most influential and enduring groups. Known for their polished vocal harmonies, driving basslines, and danceable township rhythms, the Soul Brothers were among the most successful recording acts in South Africa during the 1970s and 1980s. Their music blends traditional mbaqanga structures with modern production and pop accessibility, resulting in a sound that resonated widely across Southern Africa.

Released in 1985 on the Priority Records label and distributed by WEA Records South Africa, the album features the group’s characteristic upbeat instrumentation with layered guitars, rhythmic percussion, and melodic vocal interplay. The Soul Brothers maintained a remarkable recording career spanning decades, and albums such as Isilingo helped cement their reputation as one of the defining groups of the township pop and mbaqanga era.
