This 7-inch single features the instrumental rock group The Shadows performing “The Third Man,” their interpretation of the famous theme from the classic film The Third Man. The original theme, composed and famously performed on zither by Anton Karas, became one of the most recognizable film themes of the post-war era.

The Shadows, renowned for their clean electric guitar tone and melodic instrumental arrangements, adapted the piece in their distinctive instrumental rock style. During the 1960s the group enjoyed enormous international success, particularly in the United Kingdom and Commonwealth markets, and their recordings were widely issued in South Africa.
