Description
Easy Living is a superb late-career session from Ike Quebec, recorded shortly before his passing and featuring an exceptional Blue Note lineup. Released posthumously in 1980, the album captures Quebec’s warm, blues-soaked tenor sound in a relaxed yet deeply expressive setting.
With Stanley Turrentine adding rich harmonic depth and a powerhouse rhythm section led by Sonny Clark and Art Blakey, the album balances ballads and grooves with effortless swing. Tracks like “See See Rider,” “Congo Lament,” “I’ve Got a Crush on You,” and the title track “Easy Living” showcase Quebec’s lyrical phrasing and emotional directness.
A beautiful, underrated Blue Note release and a must-have for collectors of classic tenor saxophone jazz.
