Outta Season was released in 1969 during one of the most creative periods of Ike & Tina Turner’s career. The album blends soul, blues, R&B, funk, and Southern rock influences, showcasing Tina Turner’s powerful vocals while the Ike & Tina Turner Revue delivers the energetic backing for which they became famous. The watermelon-themed front and back cover artwork has become one of the most recognizable sleeve designs in their catalogue.

This album is particularly notable for the original version of “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long” and the blues-rock interpretation of “Honky Tonk Women.” It captures the duo just before Tina’s breakthrough into wider mainstream recognition in the early 1970s.
