Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Requiem stands as one of the composer’s most ambitious and acclaimed classical works. Written in memory of his father, William Lloyd Webber, this powerful sacred composition combines traditional Latin liturgical texts with Lloyd Webber’s distinctive melodic style. The recording features an exceptional cast including world-renowned tenor Plácido Domingo, soprano Sarah Brightman, and boy soprano Paul Miles-Kingston, accompanied by the Winchester Cathedral Choir and the English Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Lorin Maazel.

The album achieved international recognition and won the 1986 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Classical Composition. It also introduced the celebrated movement “Pie Jesu,” performed by Sarah Brightman and Paul Miles-Kingston, which became one of the most famous pieces in modern sacred music.
