Trio ’65 is one of the most respected recordings in the Bill Evans catalogue, featuring the legendary pianist alongside Chuck Israels on bass and Larry Bunker on drums. Recorded during a transitional period following the departure of bassist Gary Peacock, the album captures Evans’ unmistakable lyrical touch, harmonic sophistication and intimate trio interplay.
Released on Verve in 1965, the album balances standards with contemporary compositions and is regarded as one of Evans’ strongest mid-1960s studio recordings. Jazz collectors particularly value original and early pressings, especially European and South African issues in clean condition.
