Product Description DryCaddy uses the most powerful, most aggressive, and most effective desiccant on the market – molecular sieve.
It out-performs the more commonly used silica gel desiccant in all categories with respect to the care of delicate hearing instruments. Compared to other common desiccants such as silica gel, molecular sieve desiccant is the best at removing even the most tightly bound moisture from within the tiny crevices, pores, openings, and tubes of hearing devices as well as other moisture-sensitive devices.
Then, once the moisture has been pulled from the device to the mol sieve, the mol sieve continues to aggressively hold onto the moisture with very strong electrostatic bonding forces. Each DryCaddy kit includes six specially designed DryCaddy Discs™ containing proprietary molecular sieve desiccant and an air-tight, water-tight jar to serve as the drying chamber, all packaged in an attractive tube for ease of display and consumer purchase.
Each DryCaddy Disc is a single-use product capable of drying devices in the DryCaddy for a period of two months, so the total drying time of a DryCaddy kit is one year. The disc is activated by the end-user when the medical-grade foil seal is removed, exposing the holes in the top that control the rate of adsorption. Each disc is designed to adsorb moisture for a full two months, even in tropical climates, as long as the jar is kept closed. The DryCaddy Disc has space on top that allows the consumer to write the date that the foil cover is removed This is to serve as a reminder to replace the disc with a new one every two months. Since the manufacturer guarantees a two-month life expectancy for each disc, the end-user will purchase a year’s worth of protection in a single kit. A new kit should be purchased when the first kit has been depleted. An illustrated Quick Start Guide is included with each DryCaddy kit. Packaging Each DryCaddy kit contains 1 water-tight jar plus 6 DryCaddy discs.
FAQ: Are the Dry Caddy Disc and Dry-Brik interchangeable? No, they’re not interchangeable, because the rate of adsorption is regulated by the number of holes in each desiccant container. Removing the foil cover on the Dry-Brik reveals four tiny holes. That’s all that is needed because the Dry-Brik is used in an active drying system. In contrast, the Dry Caddy Disc has dozens of tiny holes in order to facilitate the movement of moisture to the desiccant in a closed system (the DryCaddy jar) with no air movement. If exposed to the heat and moving air in a Dry & Store system, the disc would have an extremely short useful life because it would aggressively seek moisture from the surrounding environment through even the smallest of gaps in the Dry & Store unit housing or during exposure when the unit is open.
