One of the more unusual and entertaining albums to emerge from the disco era, Babyface was released in 1975 by Wing And A Prayer Fife And Drum Corps, a studio project created by producer Jerry Goldstein. The album combines big-band influences, novelty arrangements, swing, jazz and early disco elements into a unique and highly memorable package.
The title track became the group’s best-known recording, while the album as a whole has developed a cult following among collectors of quirky 1970s disco, novelty records and dance-floor oddities. The distinctive cover artwork has also helped make this release a recognizable collector’s item from the mid-1970s.
