Released in 1974, Shinin’ On marked another successful chapter in the career of Grand Funk Railroad, one of America’s biggest rock bands of the 1970s. The album followed the group’s commercial breakthrough years and showcased a more polished sound that blended hard rock, blues rock, funk influences and arena-rock energy.

Featuring the hit single The Loco-Motion, a rock interpretation of the classic pop song, Shinin’ On became one of the band’s most recognizable releases. Alongside its radio-friendly moments, the album retains the powerful guitar work, driving rhythms and energetic performances that made Grand Funk a major concert attraction throughout the decade.
